Why choose a direct-drive electric screw press for forging medical implants
Medical implants have three key requirements: dimensional consistency, uniform tissue structure, absence of surface cracks/folds, and batch stability. Forging and casting break down coarse grains to obtain continuous streamlines and fine-grained structures, significantly improving fatigue strength and meeting the requirements of long-term cyclic loading in the human body.
For orthopedic medical implants (Ti6Al4V-ELI, CoCrMo, etc.), compared with friction screw presses, air hammers, and ordinary hydraulic presses, the direct-drive electric screw press offers programmable impact energy and number of impacts, high closed-loop repeatability, and supports multiple light impacts for gradual forming. It avoids micro-cracks and folding defects caused by single large impacts on titanium alloys; it also provides good forming consistency for complex asymmetrical forgings (femoral stem, irregular bone plates). With no fixed bottom dead center, it resists eccentric loads, prevents jamming, and is suitable for closed-loop precision forging.

Direct-drive electric screw presses are the preferred equipment for precision forging of mid-to-high-end load-bearing orthopedic implants. Their core value lies not in their low price, but in their ability to stably produce highly reliable and traceable medical forgings, reducing scrap and compliance risks.
